Megen Partyka Dennis (m.p. chappell)
Megen Partyka Dennis, known by her pen name m.p.chappell, is a thoughtful contemporary poet who uses vivid, sensory imagery to convey memories and emotions. Originally from Connecticut, Megen splits her time between the scenic locales of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and the vibrant community of Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Megen holds a B.F.A. in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. She furthered her education with an M.A. in Writing for Children from the University of Winchester, awarded under the Royal Charter of the University of Southampton in England.
Megen's passion lies in contemporary free-verse poetry. Her notable editorial experience includes serving as the Poetry Editor of The Emerson Review in 2003 and advancing to Editor-in-Chief in 2004. Her talent has been recognized with an EVVY Award nomination for Poetry from Emerson College in 2004. In addition to poetry, Megen has penned three children's books published by Hallmark.
Her journey into the world of poetry began in middle school when she was gifted a vintage copy of the Oxford Book of English Verse, sparking a lifelong fascination. Megen's unique writing process involves deconstructing the past, present, and future into examinable pieces, reassembling them in ways that mirror the intricate play of time and memory in everyday life.
Outside of her literary endeavors, Megen enjoys reading particularly gruesome mysteries, savoring the atmosphere of thunderstorms, and finding joy in the little things.
She is working on a chapbook that explores themes of longing and memory, promising a deep dive into the nuanced impressions of her poetic voice.
